Buckley Street is where the original shoreline of Salcombe used to be, prior to the land reclamation schemes (which started as early as the 1790’s). Now it is one of the most sought after streets in Salcombe.
Salcombe is a famous yachting venue, the southernmost point of Devon and has excellent recreational and shopping facilities.
The main street offers a variety of shops, together with cafes, pubs, restaurants, quays, slipways, banking facilities and the Yacht Club. On either side of the estuary are several sandy beaches ideal for families, swimming and boating; also coastal or cliff top walks over National Trust administered land.
Dogs are allowed on most of the beaches (not on South Sands).
